EG-Webinars

EG-Webinar: every Tuesday at 8 pm CEST in English

Logo Ende Gelände

We have closed our webinar series with a session about the Disobedient Climate Movement in East-Europe.

It was a great fun to organize the webinar series and to get a lot of positive feedback from all over the world. With the easing of the lock-downs all over Europe and summer coming we and hopefully also you will turn to outside activities instead of sitting in front of the computer. Nevertheless, we are thinking about coming back with the webinar series in the winter. If you have suggestions for further webinars please write to

14th April 8 pm CEST : How to mass mobilize – Ende Gelände skill share

What do climate justice activists and organizers need to know about the ways racist right-wing groups leverage the politics of climate change and urgency? How does structural racism shape the global health outcomes of COVID-19? How are migration and anti-racist struggles adapting in different parts of the world? What does solidarity look like in the context of COVID-19?

Like climate change, the era of COVID-19 raises important political questions about how society can be re-organized to keep the people most vulnerable in transition safe. And like the politics of climate change, there is a growing risk of far right and authoritarian discourses seizing moments of crises to forward their racist and xenophobic agendas.

Hilary Moore is the author of the forthcoming publication “Burning Earth, Changing Europe: How the Racist Right Exploits the Climate Crisis — And What We Can Do About It” (Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung-Brussels, 2020). With key analysis, current case studies from across Europe, and guiding strategic questions, this booklet is a toolkit in the project of resisting racist, xenophobic, and authoritarian influences in the political arenas of climate change — in social movements, in parliament, and on the streets. Burning Earth, Changing Europe is for anyone who wants to learn more about keeping climate change a progressive issue.

Join Hilary in conversation with:

  • Liz Fekete, author and director of Institute for Race Relations in London, England
  • Vincent Bababoutilabo, organizer with the NSU-Tribunal and the Institute for Black People in Germany
  • Michelle Mascarenhas-Swan, collective member of Movement Generation Justice & Ecology Project in the United States

The presentation will be a discussion between panelists followed by a questions and answer section with webinar participants. A recording of the presentation and ways to get a hard-copy of _Burning Earth, Changing Europe_ will be sent after the webinar to the email of registered participants.

You can download Burning Earth, Changing Europe for free here

https://www.rosalux.eu/en/article/1588.burning-earth-changing-europe.html

You can also order a free hard copy from the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung-Brussels on the same page.

Unfortunately, the recording began only halfway through the panel. As another option, they will post small clips from the panel on social media in the coming weeks. You can follow @highfivehilary_ on Instagram and RosaluxEuropa on Facebook.

19th May 8 pm CEST : We shut shit down! History of Ende Gelände and the disobedient climate movement in Europe. In cooperation with Reclaim the Power (UK)

In cooperation with Reclaim the Power (UK)
Ende Gelände developed from different movement experiences:
• The British Climate Camps of 2006-2010
• The Block G8 Campaign in Heiligendamm 2007 which marked a
coalition of non-violent and militant groups
• The first German Climate & Anti-rascist Camp 2008 in Hamburg
• The protest against the COP15 in Copenhagen 2009 that marked the beginnings of the radical climate movements in  Germany and it’s associated problems
• The anti-nuclear campaign Castor Schottern in 2010 and 2011
• The regional Climate Camps (Klimakamp) in Lusatia and the
Rhineland that started with around just 150 people in 2010 & 2011.

Let us tell the story about how Ende Gelände emerged out of this collection of experiences into what it is today. The  campaign that has successfully brought thousands of new people into the climate justice movement across Europe. We will reflect on the key strategic decisions that made it all possible.

02nd June 8 PM CEST: How to organize a Climate Action Camp

https://www.facebook.com/events/1115920232097118/

Imagine you are successful in mobilising thousands of people to a climate justice camp. Where will they sleep? Will there be enough food? Are there enough toilets? Is the camp just for an action or will there be workshops, education
and entertainment too? What is the relationship like with the local people and the police?

Ende Gelände has host d camps with thousands of people and has successfully dealt with many of these questions. Sometimes the food  hhs run out and sometimes there aren’t enough toilets so join us to see how these problems have been solved collectively!

Come to this webinar and learn how Ende Gelände has developed the practice of building such a large camp infrastructure over the years. There are many aspects to building the camps so please follow the link below and put a ‘+’ sign by the topics you want to be covered as its unlikely we’ll be able to cover them all: https://pad.riseup.net/p/How_to_camp
